Decorating 101, Issue #0014 --Ideas to Freshen Your Walls for Spring!
March 24, 2008
Hi There,

Freshen Your Walls For Spring!

The trees are budding, green bulb chutes are popping up out of the ground and the sun shines a little longer giving you that extra incentive to finish up those outdoor chores. There is a sense of renewed hope in the air! Even thought you’re itching to get outside, don’t neglect the inside. Your walls need to feel young again too! You may be surprised how a fresh coat of paint or a new whimsical piece of wall art can lighten your spirits. One of the quickest ways I’ve found to quickly freshen up a wall is to decorate with photographs. You probably have a handful stacked somewhere waiting until you get around to adding them to a scrapbook or scanning them to a computer disk. Here are a several of ways to invigorate your walls at home rather inexpensively.

1. Enlarge a handful of your favorite photos and frame with a variety of different frames. Designate one wall for the purpose of hanging them all in a cluster grouping.

2. Print several photographs on regular printer paper and decoupage them with Mod Podge to the frame of large hanging mirror.

3. Paint a large portion of a wall with magnetic paint, yes believe it or not there is such a thing. Print pictures on the magnetic paper that you send right through your printer, trim and stick to the wall. You can also glue magnets to the back of printed photographs for a more dimensional look. Eventually your wall will look like one huge photo album!

My favorite idea is to use a metal picture holder like the one below. It’s a quick fix and especially good if you don’t have time to start a craft project. You just hang it and carefully slip the photos through each loop. Wouldn’t Grandma love this for Mother’s Day! You could give it already trimmed with photographs of those precious grandchildren!
