Best Baby Shower Decorating Ideas

Here are a few baby shower decorating ideas as well as some game and food tips too.The last baby shower I hosted was far from the usual sitting around chatting and eating cake. We had a blast!

Before all the fun starts you must do a bit of planning. Decorations can be simple. People will most likely remember the fun they had way more than how you decorated. Start by creating atmosphere. Light a fire if you have a fireplace. Put on some fun light hearted music. Kids music is great for this. The Wiggles’ Yummy Yummy CD or Veggie Tales will have you giggling plus it will be great prep for the future mom. If you want to be less silly, Nora Jones is nice for soothing background noise.

For a lovely and appropriate floral-like center piece, buy a small bag of diapers. Wrap each crease at the bottom with heavy gauge floral wire. Spray the tops of the diapers with glitter spray or spray paint. Allow to dry and then arrange in a vase.

Tulle pronounced (tool) is one of my favorite baby shower decorating ideas because it is inexpensive and can be found at discount stores and fabric stores. You can use it to adorn doorways or stairways. You can easily scrunch it into flower shapes by pulling small bunches up through a large rubber band.

This book has some good baby shower decorating ideas as well as how to plan for the party.

The invitations I sent out said to come for brunch. By the way, invitations really set the mood. I love the ones shown below.

What about email invitations? Try one from 123Greetings.com

I served a breakfast casserole and an adorable fruit salad cut into the shape of a baby carriage. Be sure to click here to see how I put it all together.

What’s a baby shower without those ridiculous games? The first one is called Food Scramble. Buy 10 jars of baby food. Label each with a numbered piece of tape. For your own reference and master copy, write the number and corresponding food name of each jar on a piece of paper. Then peel the labels off the jars. You can print off my list here.

Your guests will have tons of fun unscrambling the baby food words and guessing which jar is what. No tasting please!

The second game you can play is called Baby Brand Slogan Match. All you have to do is match the Company with its famous slogan. Click here to print off your own copies of my list.

Of course you’ll want to offer prizes for the winners!

If the group isn’t too large, try this idea. Pass around precut card stock 6”x 6”. Pass around old magazines that can be cut up. Ask each guest to sum up his/her best child rearing advice into one or two sentences and write it at the bottom of the card stock. Then ask them to cut pictures from the magazines that go with the advice. Remember to ask each guest to write his/her name on the back. Frame the best and give to the mommy to be to use in decorating the baby rooms.

With a little planning and a few of these baby shower decorating ideas put to good use, you’re sure to have a party your guests will be talking about for months after!
