Milking the Module for Classroom Decorating
Classroom decorating is an important part of a child's school experience. It makes them feel welcome and can speed learning. The specter of another school year is quickly beginning to loom. Teachers have hardly had a respite from the past school year and now need to be ready to start fresh. Past the many teacher meetings, classroom decorating is also a chore that needs to be thought about. Although there is likely a design plan some other ideas may help. Teaching modules As any teacher knows, getting the students to settle is difficult at the beginning of a new year. Keeping the first few teaching modules in mind can be an interesting way to get the students thinking even if the module will not start for several weeks or months. If there is an earth science module try decorating with an animal theme and some fun statistics. If an astronomy section is planned perhaps some Hubble Space Telescope images can be used to pique interest. Live action A bunny, snake or iguana may also be a good idea. If you are lucky, perhaps a responsible student(s) will want to take charge and care for them. At any rate it will afford pictures and floor space for decorating. Computer ready If there is a computer center available perhaps a quick PowerPoint section is in order. Students can quickly pick up design tips and make their own contributions to the decor. Calendars are an easy project but how about phases of the moon or a science project tracking the growth of something with charts, pictures and a history. This last project may fit into decorating ideas for teen rooms or more advanced classes. Milking the curriculumThe general idea is to not have to think about
classroom decorating
or decorating ideas for teen rooms. Let the modules that you have been instructed to teach work for you in a double fashion. Use them once in the minds of the students and once on the walls of the classroom.
