Coffee Shop Interior Design Ideas

Coffee shop interior design should be warm and cozy. Your guests should be just that, guests. Make them want to linger. Play music that is not necessarily main stream. A touch of folk is nice. Walls look pleasant painted in glowing colors like golds, oranges and reds.

The owners of my local coffee house did a really cool tissue paper technique on the walls. It gives great texture to the walls. Here’s how you do it. Begin at the upper left corner of a room. Paint a small section about the size of your tissue paper square. Crinkle the tissue paper into a wad. Flatten it out again and roll over it with a paint roller in the same color. Repeat this procedure slightly overlapping each piece of tissue paper until the entire space is covered.

Classic tin panels can be attached to the ceiling or as a splash guard for a workspace that is seen by the public. These are gaining popularity and can be found at a local home improvement store.

Every city or small town is rich with history. For coffee shop interior design, bits of history are a must! Ask around or visit library archives for old photographs of life 50 or even 100 years ago. Display the photographs in thick black frames. This kind of wall décor always fosters a sense of community. You may even be amazed at the stories patrons tell because a simple photo jogged their memory.

Groups of comfy chairs with a coffee table in between are a nice alternative to hard straight backed chairs. The furniture doesn’t have to be new. Slip covers work well because you can peel them off and toss into the wash. Display magazines and city newspapers on coffee tables. Consider adding a few bookshelves to the mix. It’s easy to collect books at flea markets, yard sales and auctions to fill the shelves. Board games are a must. Checkers, chess, scrabble and monopoly are just a few that people will be looking for. Eventually you may even want to start a scrabble club where you select a certain time and day each week for competitions. You can proudly display the winner ‘s picture and bio each week on your community bulletin board. This may sound a little quirky, but it will create buzz and that is what you need to keep your business fresh.

Coffee shop interior design should also include murals in some form. Landscape murals on a large scale are fun, but don’t have to take up such a large space. Large picture frames around 3’x3’ may be purchased or salvaged from outdated paintings. Rip away all the canvas and glass and discard. Attach the frames to the wall gallery style. Invite your customers to paint directly on the wall inside the frame. Your requirements are entirely up to you, but you may suggest they do a self portrait. Children really enjoy this activity!
