When you're decorating boy rooms, take your time. Boys are fantastic, fun and imaginative creations! There are as many room ideas for boys as there are shapes, colors, and sizes of boys! So let your imagination run wild and use the suggestions below as a spring board.

1.Pirate RoomLet the inner treasure hunter run wild with this theme. A thick rope cut into bits can be shaped into letters and used to personalize your child's door. Draw a treasure map on a brown paper sack. Crinkle it up to make it look old. Frame and hang on the wall. You can also make a faux wall paper look by using markers to draw on tissue paper. Then apply to the wall with a paint glazing compound, using the compound to stick it to the wall as well as brushing over it to flatten. A pirate comforter set will complete this kids bedroom decor perfectly! Check out the accessories at my ebay store

2. Cowboy Room- This is a super idea for decorating boy rooms! Collect cowboy hats from garage sales and thrift stores. Display on hooks along the wall. Do the same thing with cowboy boots along a shelf right below. Be sure they are within reach because he’ll defineately put them to use! Buy a piece of rope at the hardware store and shape it into a loop for a lasso. Staple it to the wall. Add a rocking horse or horse on a stick for play time. Hunt for wine type barrels at auctions to use for toys and things.

3. Jungle safari- Create a fun jungle scene by painting a tropical tree on the walls. Decorate a large trunk with jewels and pearl strands to create a treasure box for toys. Use lots of animal fabrics. Select a color palette of beiges so the greens, yellows and blues of jungle accessories will pop! Make a climbing wall. This takes some extra effort, but is so cool! To do this you will want to cover the inside of the room or at least one wall with a smooth plywood to protect it. Paint the mural as desired. Add strips of wood thick enough to stand on going up the tree trunk, Buy some rope. Tie rope together in big knots and attach to wall using large eye hooks.

4.Another idea for decorating boy rooms is to personalize the room by hanging decorative letters that spell out your child's name on the wall, displaying a growth chart, or by painting bible verses, a favorite poem or the meaning of the child’s name. You can easily write on walls with paint pens found at your local craft store.

5. Outer Space-Buy glow in the dark stars and stick tac them to the ceiling to create a solar system. Paint one of the walls and the ceiling black. Hang a wire mobile from the ceiling showing each of the planets. You can make one out of some wire, Styrofoam and a little imagination.

6. Camping -When decorating boy rooms, newspaper shop for an old boat to use as a couch. Remove the seats and stabilize it by screwing wood planks to both sides so it doesn’t rock. You can paint the planks later. Fill the inside with foam that has been covered with the fabric of your choice. You can also cut an old canoe in half, add some shelves and stand it on end. Presto! You have a book shelf. Hang colorful lures from the ceiling by fishing line. Hang a stuffed animal net in the corner right below the ceiling and fill with stuffed animals or plastic fish. Attach 2 old fishing poles together at the ends. Attach the reel ends to the wall and use as a curtain rod. Make the focal point of the room a fish tank. Paneling is inexpensive. You could line the walls with a knotty pine type to create a “lodge” feel.

7.Use furniture that has an element of surprise and exploration. Trundleicon and bunk beds work great for this. They also work well in small rooms.

Whatever your decorating boy rooms idea is, you are sure to make your child feel special and that’s what it's all about!
