Home Decorating Painting Project

Home decorating painting ideas can be found anywhere! Flipping through magazines, when going out to dinner or a to a friend’s house, always keep your eyes open for new trends. Unique ideas can be found just about every place you go! Recently I visited a local coffee shop and got a great idea for wall decor. The walls were covered with old window frames that had been left for the dump until a person with a little bit of ingenuity recycled them into art! The panes of glass were painted with silhouettes of 1800’s photographs.

A couple of weeks ago we had “junk at the curb day” where the city comes to pick up old washers and dryers, broken furniture and used paint cans. I was out for a walk and made a great discovery! Several windows had been left for the trash pick-up. So, I helped myself! Here’s what I did. It was fun for the kids too!

You don’t need to dress up the frame at all. Leave the multicolored paint peeling as it is. Dust off dirt and cobwebs and you’re ready to paint! Paint the back side of the glass. Keep in mind when you do this that when hung, your picture will be a mirrored of your original.

It’s as simple as that! You don’t have to be an artist. Abstract art works quite nicely with home decorating painting techniques.
