Home Decorating Trends
Here’s a few home decorating trends to help get your chic self going if you’ve been out of the style loop for awhile or if you just want to know the latest and greatest. 1. Have an unused closet? Line the walls with a bold happy print. Let it be the focal point of the room. What comes next is up to you. It’s could be a stylish spot for the tv. Add a cozy bench and it’ll turn into a sweet spot to read and relax. 2. Cut out bits and pieces of colorful magazine pictures. Use Mod Podge to decoupage in a random pattern on a piece of old furniture like the picture below. Newsprint works well too. This technique works nicely when stuck to a canvas and hung as a unique piece of art. 3. Outdated techniques such as needlepoint are going modern. Take a look at the examples. The first is was lovely in its day but the colors are dull and rather flat. The second has a much more updated look with a fresh and bright color palette. The two have the same texture but with a new twist. If you have a love of knitting or like the feel of crochet hooks between your fingers, consider allowing your favorite pastime to be one of the new home decorating trends!
4. Scavenge scrap metal yards for letters to make up a word such as “love”. Hang each letter in succession on the wall. One letter may be 5 inches tall, another 1 foot tall. The “O” may be gold and the “E” purple. The individuality, you’ll discover, cannot be duplicated. You’ll have a one of a kind masterpiece!
