Designing a Room Around Wrought Iron Furniture

Wrought iron furniture can add a very interesting look to your home, either used in a casual manner such as decorating your patio with rustic wrought iron pieces, or to create an interesting Tuscan look in your home with furniture and accent pieces.

Caring for Wrought Iron Furniture

This type of furniture is very sturdy, based on its metal construction. It can also be painted in a variety of colors, making it very versatile for decorative furniture pieces. Although black is often the most common color, you can find wrought iron furniture in a variety of shades, such as earthy tones of brown and beige. Caring for this furniture is easy, even when you use it outdoors. Indoors, simply keeping the pieces dusted is usually sufficient, but if you do need to wash the furniture, or use it outdoors, you can use a good grade of automotive wax to help preserve the surface, or use a cleaning and waxing product that is designed for this type of furniture.

Using Wrought Iron Furniture in a Tuscan Inspired Room

Combine pieces of wrought iron furniture with other furniture pieces made from dark wood and leather to create an interesting combination of colors and textures that will create a Tuscan look. Furniture pieces that are accented with wrought iron are also popular in this style of decorating. To add a finishing touch, add a wrought iron wine rack, wrought iron shelf, or one or two pieces of decorative piece of wrought iron wall art. Decorative pieces with a Mediterranean look such as candle holders and wall sconces can also be used very effectively to accessorize a room.

Bringing the Outdoors Inside with Wrought Iron Furniture

If you have a sunroom or other comfortable room that would lend itself to an outdoorsy style of decorating, you can even use wrought iron patio furniture indoors to create an interesting look. Patio furniture sets often include a table, chairs, and perhaps lounge chairs. By shopping carefully, especially at the end of summer, you can often find these patio sets for a good price. To decorate a room in an outdoors style, start by arranging your chairs in an inviting fashion, perhaps creating a semi-circle from several chairs and an occasional table or two. You can create a room that you will enjoy using for meals such as a quiet breakfast or casual lunch if you include a wrought iron patio table and chair set. These sets come in a wide variety of sizes, so choosing a smaller one that can fit into a cozy little corner of your room can add a nice touch. Decorate the room in a sunny fashion by adding brightly colored cushions, natural plants, and perhaps some flowers. The end result will be a cheerful room reminiscent of the back patio, which can add a nice touch of the outdoors to your home, even when the weather is too cold to enjoy the back yard.
